Co-Ablation System’s first commercial use in Turkey has been successfully completed!

On March 8, local time, Professor Yilmaz, a renowned expert from Turkey, successfully performed co-ablation procedures for two cancer patients at Varisson Interventional Radiology Clinics. The postoperative condition of the patients was favorable. Professor Yilmazhighly praised Co-Ablation System, citing its clear treatment boundaries, extreme temperature differentials, and the maximum treatment area per needle as technical advantages that effectively ensure treatment safety and benefit for patients. This surgery marks the first clinical application of Co-Ablation System in Turkey, a domestically developed original high-end medical technology in the field of minimally invasive interventional treatment for tumors.

Patient 1

A female, 56 years old, with pulmonary metastases. There is one metastatic lesion each in the sacrum and left rib, both measuring 5cm. Two freeze-thaw cycles were performed on each of the sacral and rib metastatic lesions. The patient's postoperative condition was good.

Patient 2

A female, 42 years old, with recurrent lipoma. The lesion is located in the right knee joint with a diameter of 13cm. A dual-needle approach was used, performing a total of 6 freeze-thaw cycles, with the maximum ice ball diameter reaching 8.2cm. Multi-directional treatment was performed during the procedure to comprehensively cover the lesion range. The patient's postoperative condition was good.

Prof Saim Yilmaz, MD

Professor Saim Yilmaz has been focusing on interventional radiology since becoming a radiologist in 1992.

In 2011, Professor Yilmaz co-founded the MIIO group with a team of experts in the field of oncology and started working at Memorial Antalya Hospital and Medical Star Hospital. He focuses on tumor ablation (radiofrequency, microwave, nanoknife, cryoablation) and arterial tumor treatments (chemoembolization, radioembolization, etc.). Professor Yilmaz has led the first-ever nanoknife ablation for pancreatic cancer in Turkey, as well as cryoablation for lung cancer, pancreatic, and soft tissue tumors. His lectures on pancreatic cancer ablation therapy were selected as the best research at the radiology and interventional radiology conferences in 2013 and 2014. In 2018, Professor Yilmaz founded Varisson Interventional Radiology Clinics located in Antalya and Istanbul, where he and his team continue to advance tumor ablation treatments.
